Definition
An angular relationship between two planets or chart points.
Why it matters
Aspects describe the angle between planets or chart points. Astrologers use those angles to discuss how different parts of a chart are thought to work together.
Example
A trine is close to 120°, while a square is close to 90°. The exact angle and the allowed orb determine whether an aspect is counted.
Common confusion
An aspect is an angular relationship, not a zodiac sign or house. Different astrological traditions can also use different orb limits.
